We interrupt our regularly scheduled post to bring you this:
BARACK OBAMA HAS WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. SERIOUSLY. CHECK THE NEW CHANNELS.
I’m waiting for the next headline: Alfred Nobel returns from the dead to take Obama’s Peace Prize away from him.
Look, I don’t like him but I do pray for him. Really I do. But the Nobel Peace Price? I can’t quite figure how this happened because the nomination process ended when Obama was in his 2nd week as President! He hadn’t done anything yet except make a bunch of promises.
To me this is all just freaky-deaky, Faustian bargain type of stuff. The world is besotted with him. Children in public school sing hymns extolling his “virtues”. Bush could do no right and Obama can do no evil. Left is right, black is white, Down is up.
I’m getting to watch the President’s live remarks on MSNBC.com which ironically has just started with a Pepto-Bismal commercial.
OK, God, I know you’re up to something & I’d really like to know what it is! Call me.

Your Pepto Bismal line cracked me up! This is "craziness" at it's highest form! Only thing I know is to keep praying!

EVERYONE is shocked. So is Obama! Jason receives emails from his people. Yesterday, he got an email from Obama saying he was shocked, didn't think he deserved it, but will accept it in hopes he can fulfill the promise it brings. Very humbling.
The problem is, he can't NOT accept it now. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I think he got it, in part, because of how his being elected meant a major shift in race issues in America which was felt and observed around the world. So, he got it, in part, for having been elected President, not so much for his time in office.
Jason says he thinks it is a great illustration for Christians to use when talking about how God gives us grace when we don't deserve it but it is for the hope of glory when God gives it to us.

Oh yeah. The pepto line. Cracked me up! You are too funny.
Did you see Drew W.'s status on facebook regarding this? Also very funny.

I'm just very confused about how the Nobel committee came to their decision. To give someone an aware on what you hope they are going to do makes no sense. It's like giving me an Academy Award for best screenplay just because I'm a writer. I don't expect him to turn it down. To paraphrase Michael Moore I hope he "earns it".

The committee said that part of their reasoning was because of the general sense of hope President Obama brought to the world. Who knew there were so many idealists in high places? I tend to be one myself, but then, I'm not on the committee for an uber-significant lifetime achievement award. I think, 'I hope he earns it' is the healthiest way to look at this. Just imagine if he does.
Also, my kids are in public school. I'm googling this hymn now, because um, I don't think so. At least don't call it a hymn. Good Lord.
