Beware! Hack(ing) Writer!

Lung If you've felt a strange disturbance in the force the last 2 weeks, don't worry. It's just me trying to hack up a lung. I'm fighting a nasty case of bronchitis and trying to force myself to get well before I hop my plane to Cali on Friday. My father has generously offered to share his oxygen with me when I arrive. What a dad!

It's been a great way to get work done because no one in their right mind wants to come into my office. My class is glad to be NaNo-ing instead of listening to me gasp for air while I lecture them on the finer points of characterization. I tried to read a story to them at one point last week & they stopped me, suggesting that they could read it for themselves. One of my students is also taking an EMT class & he was happy to test his new stethoscope on my back. "Wow, Mrs. F! You sound just like crinkly tissue paper!" Great, just the effect I was going for.

I say all that to explain away my lack of posts. I've been so loaded on that yummy cough syrup with codeine that I thought it best not to commit anything to the eternity of the Internet. I am feeling a bit more spritely today & am confident I will board the plane under my own strength, and not in a wheelchair with assistance, as my good friend Patty keeps suggesting. (I think she just wants to go with me...)

I am happy that our fall colors are in full blaze this week. If I time it right they'll all fall off the trees while I'm gone & Harold & Evan will be stuck raking them up!

California here I come....
