October 8, 2007 --- In a revolutionary new marketing ploy, retail giant WalMart has decided to actually respond to customer complaints. While it is not known if this new tactic will help revive the ailing behemoth, it is certainly worth noting. We interviewed stunned customer, Lori, to get her take on this issue.
"Well, it all started last week when I got home from a particularly heinous trip to WalMart. I only went there because I was looking for something not carried by the other grocer in town. The store was dirty, there were fruit flies in the produce section &, as usual, I couldn't find the trash bags because they move them all the time so you have to hike around the store. Of course, you can never find an associate to help you or, if by dumb luck you do find one, they are as confused as you are.
I logged on to WalMart's corporate website & filled out the customer opinion form. I was very specific in my complaints & even told them I mostly shop at HyVee, because even though it costs a little more, at least their employee's are friendly and the produce is fresh.
I never in a million years thought I would actually hear back from anyone so I was stunned this afternoon to get a call from one of the assistant managers of our local store. He had my comments in hand, was very friendly & went over every single one with me. He made no excuses but seemed to honestly want my opinion. He also actually admitted that they do move things around on purpose! It was a very surreal moment."
While it is this reporter's personal opinion that the phone call this customer received may just have been a mistake by an over-zealous WalMart manager, we encourage the public to be on the look-out for any other acts of "customer service" by this retail giant.
Wow! That is so good to hear. I love it when businesses even appear to care about their customers. I called Walgreens the other day with a four month recurring problem. When I told them (politely) that if we couldn't get this resolved we'd have to find a new pharmacy you know what their response was? A very chipper "Okay!" Nice. Way to go Wal-Mart, and way to go Lori on speaking out.

I knew they were moving things around on purpose! Thought I was losing my mind. Guess they never thought what it's like to navigate the labyrinth with a toddler...
