I have to write something, anything, just to get my brain going in that direction again. It feels so distracted that I find it difficult to string sentences together in what could be considered a coherent blog entry that anyone would want to spend time reading. Here is a little sample of what has been floating through my mind the last 2 weeks since my last post.
1. Afghanistan - I never really knew very much about this country, except what I had heard on the news. While Evan was in the hospital last time I read 2 books, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns
, both by Khaled Hosseini. Both books tell heart breaking tales of live in Afghanistan. They also give a wonderful overview of the history of that country. I pay closer attention now to the news & I also feel like I have a little better understanding of the complexity of the situation there.
2. Paint colors - Our living room, which had a coat closet removed during Evan's first hospital stay, now needs to be painted. I want to do something different, something dramatic, although we aren't a very dramatic family. I want an accent wall with a bold color that says, "Hey! I'm hip!" but I think that kind of statement is perhaps beyond us. At the very least, I don't want our color choice to say, "Hey, we are middle-aged & boring!"
3. Transition -Evan is coming to the end of his allotted time to have a caretaker. We are desperately searching & praying for what he needs to do with his days. He will spend part of the time working up at the church, probably, but we have hit dead end's with any other options.
4. Work - Harold has started a new job. (Have I mentioned that at all??) He is selling AFLAC & is fully immersed in training, etc. This has meant some trips out of town. Before Harold began working for the church "temporarily", he had a job where he traveled out of town nearly every week. It has been 5 years since that has been the case, so we are trying to adjust which has been a challenge. He is having a ball being back out in the marketplace though.
5. M.O.G. (Move of God) - I keep having this suspicion that God is getting ready to do some new things in my life, my family's lives, and in our church. There is a restless feeling of anticipation that is rolling around inside me. I can't point to anything specific just yet but I am on the look-out for signs of what He is up to.
Well, there you have it. A scary peek into my head. Thanks for reading & I'll hopefully be back soon with a social commentary on something or a wonderfully insightful observation on a compelling topic or at least to say hello.
It's good to see you posting again. I know that "restless feeling" - my gentleman caller and I are having "those talks"... ;-)

Wow, your brain sounds as busy as mine. I hope you got my message on your myspace about lunch this week. My kids are on the mend though, so I'm thinking next Wednesday?

Thanks for filling us in on your mind. :)
Maybe instead of doing an accent wall in a bold color, you could just do the whole room in a quiet, but "in" color. You know, like a celery green or something. (Is that still an "in" color? HA!)

I liked the Ralph Lauren colors at Home Depot. We used Victoriana (golden tan) for three walls, and Morning Mauve (actually a tawny peach color) for the fireplace wall. Works for us.
